Item 3: The Sacramento Bee reports that a federal judge has approved a settlement which compels the Department of Defense to provide lifetime health care and post-exchange privileges to 2,100 veterans who have been medically discharged since 2002 with post-traumatic stress disorder. (Feb 20, 2012)
Item 4: “Fritz Wolf: Badger State Ace” New World War II Exhibit to Open at Wisconsin Veterans Museum. The Wisconsin Veterans Museum highlighting the service of Fritz Wolf of Shawano, Wisconsin, a naval aviator who flew with the famed “Flying Tigers” in Burma and China in 1941-42, and later off the decks of the USS Hornet and USS Yorktown in 1944-45. Item 9: Veterans Affairs Takes Lead in Connecting Veterans with Jobs. During Governor Scott Walker’s State of the State Address on Wednesday, he announced that the Wisconsin Department of Veterans Affairs (WDVA) is tasked with the number one mission of ensuring employment of Wisconsin veterans. Item 10: Gold Star Mothers: We are currently fundraising for Wisconsin Gold Star Mother’s and are in need of your help and support! Gold Star Mother’s is a national organization that has lost a child on duty while serving in the military to help preserve our freedom. I have attached our annual fundraising letter with the history of Veteran’s Memorial Park that was started in 2007. Item 15: A Letter from Herb Kohl: Members of the Wisconsin National Guard’s 1157th Transportation Company received some of these days off when they returned from Iraq, but the Army miscalculated the number of days they earned under the new program. The mistakes were discovered and the Army corrected their records, but only allowed them to take the extra days after they returned from their next deployment. However, many of these soldiers will not deploy again, and some no longer serve in the military. It has been years since they returned and they still have not been compensated. (Mar 4, 2012)

Item 21: White House to Honor Iraq War Veterans, Families. President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama will honor Iraq War veterans and their families at the White House later this month, White House officials announced in a statement made on February 6th. (Mar 11, 2012)
Item 22: On Friday, May 4, 2012, the Wisconsin Department of Veterans Affairs (WDVA) is planning an event to honor World War II veterans. The event will take place from 10:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the National Railroad Museum in Green Bay and is open to all World War II veterans and their guests. I am asking you to join with us to make this a memorable event for everyone. (Mar 11, 2012)

Item 24: The Secretary of the Navy Ray Mabus announced today a Navy ship will be named after U.S. Marine Staff Sgt.
